Your choice for the Best Bar in Morecambe has been revealed and there’s bound to be a right Royal knees-up in celebration.

That’s because the Royal Bar has beaten four other finalists to earn the accolade of Morecambe’s favourite pub.

Winners of The Visitor’s Best Bar in Morecambe competition, as voted for by our readers, the Royal has gone from strength to strength since it reopened following a major investment by the O’Hagan family in 2012.

Manager Chris ‘Bru’ Wood, said: “I’m chuffed to bits.

“We’ve got a fantastic team here and they’ve made working here a pleasure since I started in January.

“The Royal is an all round package. We do food and our chef Roy Currah and his team have got busier and busier, we have a hotel upstairs, our cask ales have come on massively, and the bar is attractive and a nice, safe environment.

“Our live music has also come on a lot this year.

“I used to work for a music company, and when I took over I looked at the diary and thought we had to step it up.

“We’ve got loads of live music on over Christmas with Mark Yates and his soul night on New Year’s Eve.”

Visitor readers had the chance to vote in our Best Bar competition by post and by text message.

Voting continued after the top five contenders were announced.

The other finalists were The Bull, the Fenwick Seafood pub, the Golden Ball at Snatchems and the Ranch House. The winners receive a certificate and a trophy.
