Fans of crocheting will love an event at The Platform in Morecambe this Sunday (October 20). A 30 Year Celebration of the International Diploma in Crochet will include stalls selling crocheting equipment and yarns. The event will be opened by Claire Montgomerie, editor of Inside Crochet magazine, and closed by the Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor June Ashworth. The event runs from 10am to 4pm and admission is free.

A woman who stole a man’s wallet and its contents has been fined £70. Kirsty Gaskell, 24, of St Barnabus Place, Preston, admitted committing the offence in Morecambe on August 2 this year at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court.

She pleaded guilty to taking £10, a bank card plus ID and store cards from her victim.

Magistrates also ordered Gaskell to pay the man £20 in compensation.
