Upon arrival at the scene it was quickly found that one girl had been freed by Her Majesty’s Coastguard.

The rescue of the second teenage girl was overseen by Ollie Braithwaite as part of his ongoing development in becoming a fully fledged Commander.

Both girls were taken to a waiting ambulance on Oakley Road for an assessment and left in their care.

Operations Manager Steve Wilson said: "A successful recovery of both females by Coastguard and the RNLI. It was also great to see Ollie over seeing the rescue of the second female which goes towards his pathway of progression in the RNLI.

"May I also take this opportunity to remind anyone using the bay to stay safe as there are many hidden dangers even close to the shore.”
