A MOTHER of two young children took her own life by overdosing on tablets and alcohol, after suffering for years with depression.
Annette Jane Merton, 29, of Thrushgill Drive in Halton, was found lying dead on her bed by her partner Shaun Pashley on September 30 last year.
Tests showed she had taken 139 tablets including medication for a heart condition and anti-depressants.
The alcohol level in her blood was three times over the drink drive limit.
The inquest at Lancaster heard that Mrs Merton had taken an overdose ten years ago and two weeks before her death had seen a counsellor who told her she was depressed.
However, her family and partner both said there was no reason to think Mrs Merton would take her own life.
No suicide note was found.
The cause of death was a combination of drugs which led to a heart attack.
Assistant deputy coroner, Nicola Mundy, said: "I'm persuaded that the amount of tablets she took was significantly higher than the prescribed dose and was sufficient to take her own life."
