Table Tennis: Duo become county champions for second successive year

Toby and Bethany Ellis have qualified for the annual Butterfly Schools Individual finals after becoming Lancashire county champions again for the second sucessive year.

Toby qualified in the boys Under-13s and Bethany in the girls Under-11s, while Genevieve Holchaks, Joseph Dennison and Matthew Westworth have also qualified to represent the county.

This event is the largest one day event in the table tennis calendar in England with over 350 players representing 50 counties gathering at Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton on Saturday, April 21 for the staging of the finals of the Butterfly Schools’ National Individual Table Tennis Championships.

Competitions are held at Under 11, 13, 16 and 19 levels for both boys and girls and all schools, primary and secondary, are eligible to enter players in the county rounds.

Following these championships, the English Schools’ Table Tennis Committee will select representative teams to play in the Invitation International to be held in June 2018 with teams from England, Guernsey, Ireland, the Isle of Man, Scotland, and Wales all competing.
