STUDENTS at Lancaster and Morecambe College held a musical protest party against planned government cuts to education.

Lancaster and Morecambe College Student’s Union and the UCU trade union joined together to voice their opinions.

A students union representative said: “The government is planning to make harsh cuts to education - they have cut the EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance), tripled the maximum limit universities can charge per year and are proposing cuts across college budgets, with specific cuts in adult education.

“Decisions are still being made about what will happen to the Adult Learner Grant, and the new system to help students who relied on the EMA is still undecided by the government.”
