Stewart Drummond led a team from Morecambe FC to victory at the Lancaster Half Marathon.

The Shrimps’ player/reserve team manager was joined by club director Graham Howse, club doctor Trevor Fleet and Lizzie Hough, who is responsible for corporate sales and events.

Team MFC received trophies for first place for the mixed running team and second place overall in the JWK Challenge Relay competition.

It was held as part of the Half Marathon day at Salt Ayre Sports Centre in Lancaster on Sunday.

Proceeds from the race went to St John’s Hospice in Lancaster.

Other businesses and organisations took part in the race, which was slightly delayed due to a road accident in Lancaster.

“We are all extremely proud of our achievements, especially as it was the first time we`d ever run together,” said Lizzie.

“All training had been done separately, and I must admit when Trevor Fleet had told me that Stewart was running at a six and half minute mile pace, I was slightly nervous that my little legs may not carry me as fast as anticipated!”

Other winners in the challenge were Lancaster Lasses (fastest female team), JWK Team (fastest male team) and JWK Team (overall).

Teams also taking part included Bennett Brooks, R&B Legal, Park Rangers, Damsels in Distress and Warty Onions.
