Plans for a solar farm which will provide energy for almost 1,500 homes in Morecambe have been approved by city councillors.
Members of the planning committee unanimously approved the scheme by Novus Solar Development Ltd for land at Fanny House Farm in Oxcliffe Road, Heaton-with-Oxcliffe, when they met on Monday.
The field, agricultural land next to Heysham Moss, will be used for enough solar panels to generate an annual output of 4,945MW, equivalent to the usage of 1,498 homes.
It will have an operating life of 35 years.
The scheme will have screening of three metre high hedging to prevent any visual impact on the surrounding area.
There will also be a two metre high perimeter fence as well as security cameras with a maximum height of four metres.
Councillors also approved plans for a solar farm at Arna Wood Farm near Aldcliffe in Lancaster.
The scheme will provide power for 1,385 homes.
