A group of fundraisers will sink their teeth into a food challenge for the Save Our Hospice campaign.
Eight members of staff from Black Bear IT Solutions and Computers, on Norfolk Street, will take on the Sink the Titanic challenge at Lancaster’s Go Burrito on Saturday, June 28 in order to raise money and awareness for St John’s Hospice.
The tasty task involves eating a mammoth 3ft 6ins burrito in just 30 minutes.
Dave Kitson, technical director, said: “We wanted to raise awareness and the funny challenges are the ones that get people’s attention more.
“We decided to do something daft and Go Burrito support the charity as well.
“We want to get people talking about the charity and hopefully a daft food challenge will do that.”
Dave is well aware of how important the work of the charity is and how many lives it has touched.
The 38-year-old from Heysham said: “I think people assume it gets more funding than it does but a large amount of the money they need has to be raised.
“If we can raise awareness and get people talking and thinking that they can help then that’s the main thing.
“It’s a local charity that’s fighting to survive in the long term. The sad reality is that St John’s Hospice is one of those places that a lot of people cross paths with.
“My father died a couple of years ago and all the donations from the funeral and the wake went to St John’s Hospice.
“Some of the people who work here have had friends and relatives who spent their final days there and my wife is nurse and did placement there.”
The challenge begins at 1pm. You can sponsor the group HERE
