A guitar owned by the late Irish rock legend Rory Gallagher has sold at auction at Milnthorpe for £29,500.

The instrument was bought by Irish entrepreneur Peter Drayne, a director of MITA Records, at Eighteen Eighteen Auctioneers.

Gallagher, who died in 1995, was very popular in Belfast and influenced some of the world’s greatest guitarists including Eric Clapton and Brian May.
