Road closures in force for Queen’s visit to Lancaster

A number of roads will be closed today from 6am due to Her Majesty visiting the city.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead and use public transport if possible.

Barriers and road closures will be in place along the route to give visitors the best opportunity to see The Queen and give her a warm Lancastrian welcome.

King Street, Penny Street and Thurnham Street will be operated under a rolling road closure to allow the Royal party to pass safely.

Any roads adjoining the A6 will be closed during the rolling closure.

Station Road will be closed until 12pm today, Friday.

Meeting House Lane, Castle Hill, St Mary’s Parade, St Mary’s Gate, Castle Park, Long Marsh Lane will be closed until 2pm today.

The bus stop on Common Garden Street will also be temporarily relocated to Dalton Square.

People wishing to get the best view of The Queen should aim to get in front of the Castle by 10am.
