MORECAMBE’S inshore Lifeboat and hovercraft were called out three times over the Easter bank holiday.

The Lifeboat towed a broken down fishing boat to safety on Friday and on Monday the RNLI volunteers assisted two canoeists and a dog to get back to the shore at Arnside.

On Sunday afternoon the hovercraft crew was on a routine training exercise when Liverpool Coastguard received 999 calls about a 4x4 vehicle that was trapped by the incoming tide about two miles off the shore at Grange over Sands.

The RNLI crews and Coastguard helped to get the vehicle to the shore.

During the same call-out they assisted a person stranded on a sandbank off the coast at Flookburgh to return to the shore.
