The main reception at A and E at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary is undergoing refurbishment.

The revamp, worth approximately £80,000, will see a significantly enhanced reception area where patients and visitors book into the department, improved disabled facilities, a new porch area for ambulances, and a new relative’s room that provides a quiet environment for those people who require it.

Whilst the refurbishment takes place, access to the department for patients and staff will be via the Emergency Department ambulance entrance which is situated on the left hand side of the existing main entrance.

Diversion signs will be in place to help direct visitors to the temporary reception desk.

This renovation of the reception area follows the £1.5M extension and refurbishment of the department at the hospital, including the development of a new Minor Injuries Unit.
