Bulk Road between St Leonard’s Gate and Caton Road will be closed between January 6 and January 27 for work associated with the new Caton Court student accommodation.

Builders Eric Wright Group have applied for the closure.

A spokesperson for Lancashire County Council said the work will include utility connections to the building and highway improvements agreed as part of the planning permission.

These will include resurfacing of the road and pavement on Bulk Road between St Leonard’s Gate and Caton Road and an upgrade to the traffic signals at the Bulk Road/Caton Road junction.

Specifically this will be a phase on the lights for pedestrians to cross Bulk Road, an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing across Bulk Road near to the junction of St Leonard’s Gate, and a loading-only parking bay on Bulk Road outside the accommodation.
