Record rainfall recorded in Lancaster over weekend

The second wettest 24 hours for 50 years was between 9am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, according to the Lancaster University weather station.

Hazelrigg recorded a total of 81.8mm of rain between late Friday evening and the early hours of Sunday.

Up to 59.7mm of rain fell between 9am Saturday and 9am Sunday.

So far this month, there has been 103.8 mm of rain (compared to an average monthly total of 115.8).

The month of November was the wettest in Lancaster for 50 years.

The Met Office forecast for the next five days is staying unsettled with further rain and strong winds at times.
