Morecambe’s rock ‘n’ roll MP has joined forces with Queen guitarist Brian May to help save the badgers.

David Morris, himself a former musician, met with the rock legend, now a leading animal activist.

Dr May is spokesman for Team Badger, who are fighting to prevent the slaughter of badgers.

Badgers are being culled in Gloucestershire and Somerset to stem the spread of bovine TB in cattle, which the Government says has been steadily rising since the 1980s.

But Mr Morris agrees with Team Badger that a programme of vaccination would be a cheaper and more humane alternative to the cull.

They will be recruiting volunteers to administer the vaccine.

Mr Morris also led a Westminster Hall debate into the issue last Wednesday.

Like Brian May, Mr Morris has appeared on Top of the Pops, having once played keyboard for 1980s pop star Rick Astley. He also plays guitar with a rock band made up of MPs called MP4.
