The Post Office at 1, Avondale Road, Lancaster, serves the residents of Greaves, Scotforth and Bowerham.

Scotforth West Ward Councillor Sheila Denwood said: “I believe it is important news for the residents of Greaves, Scotforth and Bowerham.

“I learned about the closure at a recent Police and Communities Together meeting.”

The post office will be modernised into a new, main style branch.

It will have a modern, open plan environment, the same products and services, but longer opening hours. Selected post office services including Post Office Card Account withdrawals and everyday banking services during extended shop hours. will be available at the retail counter.

Whilst the refurbishment is underway, other post office services will be available at Ullswater Road, Lancaster, and the general post office, 85, Market Street, Lancaster.

The post office will close at 5.30pm on June 8 and will reopen at 1pm on Tuesday, June 30.
