A FORMER boss at one of Morecambe’s most famous hotels has died, aged 82.

Leslie Webber, who ran the Grosvenor Hotel in Heysham for 14 years with his wife Doris, passed away on June 14 in hospital.

Leslie was born in Blackburn. Initially a joiner by trade, he ran hotels in Blackpool before moving to Morecambe to manage the Grosvenor in 1975.

The couple built the hotel back up from a rundown state to become one of the most popular places to stay in the area. During his time there famous faces including Geoff Capes, The Police, Madness and Ozzy Osbourne all visited or stayed at the hotel.
