MPs debates Carnforth platforms

MORECAMBE and Lunesdale MP David Morris has spoken at a debate in the House of Commons to have the West Coast Mainline platforms restored at Carnforth Railway Station.

He explained to the House of Commons on Monday that allowing platforms to be rebuilt at Carnforth would encourage green tourism to the district.

Mr Morris has campaigned to connect Carnforth to the West Coast mainline, setting up meetings involving Peter Yates, who led a restoration team to rebuild Carnforth station in 2000, and train operators including Virgin and Government minister Theresa Villiers.
