Police appeal after shoplifting in Heysham

Police are appealing for information and the identification of a suspect following the attempted theft of meat and coffee on June 15.

A man entered the Tesco store on Heysham Road in Heysham at about 8.30pm, stealing packets of meat from the display along with jars of coffee.

As he tried to leave he was challenged by staff and left when the police were called.

The man is described as white, slim build, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, with short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark coat with white and blue top underneath, carrying a black bag, and was in his late 20s to early 30s.

To date, enquiries have not yet identified the male that police need to speak to.

PC John Bradshaw said: “We would appeal to the public to help us and provide any information in regards to the identification of the male in the CCTV stills provided.”
