Police appeal after man is attacked in Morecambe

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was attacked in Morecambe.

The incident happened on Sunday, September 8 at around 1.30pm on the cycle track near Trimpe11 sports ground.

The man was walking down the path when he was approached by another man, who punched him in the face four times, causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim, a 71-year-old local man, received cuts and bruises to his face.

The attacker is described as being aged around 17 or 18, a slim build, clean shaven and was wearing a white top.

PC Phil Williamson from Morecambe police said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public and I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward and contact the police.

“If anyone has any information then I would urge them to call Morecambe police on 101 quoting log reference number 849 of September 8.”
