Pie maker forced to change name

MORECAMBE’S leading pie maker has been forced to change the name of his first overseas shop for fear of offending the locals.

Russell Walsh, of Potts Pies, says his new store in Germany is called Potts Pyes because the German translation of the English word pies is a slang word for urine.

So Russell changed the “i” to a “y” to avoid any wee misunderstandings.

“We didn’t want anyone taking the pies out of us,” joked Russell.
