Performers needed for Charity Stars talent show

The ultimate winner will also become a ‘Star for a Day at the Bay’ and record their own video and music session with the radio station.

For Emmie Togneri, aged 21 from Morecambe entering Charity Stars on behalf of the mental health charity MIND is much more than just singing – it is part of her personal campaign to get a fair deal for people diagnosed with mental illness and remove the stigma that is too often attached to them.

David Hanmer, aged 23, from Carnforth has entered on behalf of Cancercare supporting patients in North Lancashire and South Cumbria. David is training to be a teaching assistant which means he has less time to spend on the music he loves, but Charity Stars was a special opportunity he couldn’t miss. He was a finalist in last year’s Charity Challenge talent competition run by the Furness and is hoping to make it through again this year to win a big cash prize for Cancercare.

Twelve acts will be selected by a panel of judges to appear in the live final at the Lancaster Grand Theatre on February 21, 2015.

Another two will be selected as ‘wild card’ entries by The Bay audience to appear in the final.

Every charity represented by a finalist will receive at least £100, and the winner will receive £1000, with prizes of £750 and £500 for the charities represented by the runners-up.
