Work to install a new footbridge on Cranwell Avenue in Lancaster is due to start next week to reduce the risk of flooding to nearby homes.

The existing footbridge is being replaced as its current height could cause a blockage and increase the risk of flooding.

The new bridge is higher, reducing the potential for this to happen.

The work is being carried out from April 17 by Lancaster City Council, who will also be improving the access to the bridge.

Work is expected to take two weeks.
