Morecambe mum braves shave for cancer charity in memory of dear friend

A Morecambe woman has braved the save for charity in memory of a friend lost to cancer.

Bonnie Mitchell had her head shaved in the garden of her home in Westminster Road - and it was shown live on Facebook so that friends abroad as well as closer to home could watch.

All money raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support, who helped her late friend, Brian Kennedy.

"Brian was our bestie for decades," she said. "We miss him every day. He would take the mickey out of me for doing this but I don't care.

"He was brusque - typical southern Scot - but so clever - what laughs we had.

"Macmillan helped him in the latter days of his illness as they have helped so many others. Guys, get checked for prostate cancer - it can be fixed if found early - please!"
