Morecambe arts venue to become distribution centre for Morecambe Bay Foodbank

Lancaster City Council put out the following statement on their Facebook page:

"With live performances inside the venue still not possible, The Platform will be taking over from Salt Ayre Leisure Centre as a distribution centre for Morecambe Bay Foodbank until December 31, 2020.

"The foodbank has been based at Salt Ayre since the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown but now needs new premises, with the leisure centre beginning to open its doors to the public.

"The Platform is still unable to hold any events so to utilise the space, at the end of July, it will take over as a base for the foodbank.

"Morecambe Festival Market will also play a part in supporting the foodbank with access though this will not affect the traders.

"The decision allows Lancaster City Council to continue out work ensuring that the needs of the district's most vulnerable residents can be met through the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

"There will therefore be no events at The Platform until 2021 at the earliest. All events between now and then have been cancelled/postponed will full refunds or vouchers available to ticket holders.

"If you need to claim a refund or voucher for the same amount, please contact the box office on 01524 582803. Please be aware that from next week the phone lines will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am-4pm."
