Mindless vandalism caused at Vale of Lune Rugby Club after yobs drive car around pitch

The pitch at Vale of Lune RUFC was destroyed "in minutes" by vandals who drove their car around it.

The club posted a CCTV video on their social media of the incident, which happened at around 10.45pm on Sunday May 2.

A car can be seen entering the pitch and driving across it over the course of a couple of minutes, at one point spinning around several times on one patch of the field.

"We at the Vale of Lune would like to share with you a mindless act that took place at our community rugby club," they said.

"Our volunteer ground team work tirelessly throughout the year to tend to what is an excellent facility used by many.

"It has been significantly damaged in a matter of minutes."

The club has recently invested in new facilities at the ground, and is also due to play some junior matches this weekend.

They have asked anyone with any information about the incident to contact either the club or the police.
