Lancaster picnic areas listed among 'top dogging sites' in Lancashire

If you go down to the woods today...you may well be in for a bit of a surprise.

That's because some rural picnic sites near Lancaster popular with families have been listed on adult websites as being among the top places to have sex outdoors.

According to one internet site, popular spots for such behaviour in the Lancaster area include the Crook o'Lune, Bull Beck picnic area, Cinder Barrow picnic area near Burton-in-Kendal, and Beacon Fell, off the A6 between Preston and Lancaster.

Dogging - sexual activity in public or watching others engage in sexual activity in public - is not banned under any specific law in the UK, but people who get caught can be charged under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 with public lewdness and indecent exposure.

In 2017, we reported how the car park on the site of Halfords, PC World and B&M in Bulk Road had been named as a popular dogging location.
