Jobs on offer at luxury train firm based in Carnforth for people looking to get their life back on track

Fed-up Britons are so desperate to get back on track after the Covid-19 lockdown that a Carnforth-based luxury train operator is having to send out an urgent appeal for more staff.

The Northern Belle is desperately trying to recruit more stewards, waiters and team leaders to serve Christmas lunch to posh passengers in their seven 1930s-style Pullman carriages.

But they must be courteous and smile a lot … as well as knowing how to open and pour a bottle of champagne.

A spokesman explained: “We have been astonished at the demand from the public after the Government announced plans to ease the coronavirus restrictions.

“We are planning to run 14 different festive trains during December from all over the country.

“But now we need to find enough experienced staff to serve all our passengers.

“We need people with experience of working in four or five-star hotels, who are courteous, well-spoken and like to smile.

“And they must enjoy travelling. Because one day they could be in Dorset – the next in the Scottish Highlands!”
