THE parents of a woman who was murdered by her husband in 1997 have won their battle to keep the killer excluded from a wide area of the North West.

Marie and Ken West from Bolton-le Sands near Lancaster say they have been granted an extension to the original exclusion zone.

Mr and Mrs West have been campaigning for David Bonnell, who killed their daughter Tracey Bonnell, to be excluded from a wider area than he was initially given by the Parole Board on his release in June.

Bonnell beat his 23-year-old wife to death at their Skerton home.

Mr West, a paramedic, was one of the first on the scene of the murder. He was concerned that his job might bring him into contact with David Bonnell.

Mr and Mrs West said: “We can finally move on thanks to the help of David Morris, Victim Services and the Justice Department in helping us secure the exclusion zone.”

The Wests met with Justice Minister, Jeremy Wright, in London last week, accompanied by Morecambe MP David Morris.
