Syron heads to LA to pen her album

Syron is an English singer/songwriter and despite being called Syron, she sounds nothing like one. She has a really sweet voice actually. Her first taste of chart success came when she collaborated with Rudimental and provided vocals for their huge hit Spoons.

Syron is riding on the coat tails of that chart success by launching her own solo single and she popped by my show on The Bay to talk about it. Syron certainly dresses like a pop star. Blonde hair, ruby lips and fingernails longer than a tiger’s claws. She is fierce and feisty. “It’s all going really well at the moment,” she told me. “I am definitely more nervous putting my own songs out there than the collaborations. I write all my own stuff and I have a big part in the production plus the lyrics are all really personal to me so putting it out there is like telling my own story. That makes it all the more nerve wracking.”

Syron’s new song ‘Talking Crazy’ has the potential to be a massive dance hit. It certainly sounds great on the radio. She said, “It’s produced by Majestic and it was a really quick turnaround. He came to me with a rough outline of the track and I instantly decided that I wanted to write to this song. I had to have it. We wrote the track in a day, it didn’t take long to produce and then we released it straight away.”

Syron told me it will be at least a year before the album appears so she can find her sound and make sure it’s perfect. She popped over to Los Angeles to write most of it. “I had a trip planned for two weeks. It was my first time in America. After two days I decided not to come back and stayed for three months. The weather was great although I didn’t see much of that as I was in a dark studio most of the time.”

I have this image of LA as a place filled with A list celebrities wandering around and wannabe stars working in bars and waiting tables. Syron said it is a bit like that. “I used to hang out in a place called Soho House which is a really trendy bar. I saw a few big names in there but I tried to stay cool.”

Syron’s new single ‘Talking Crazy’ is out now.
