We smashed our own daily footfall record when we welcomed an amazing 730 Formula 1 fans to the unit last Saturday.

We were also very pleased to meet Roger Allen, who was actually the third student to register at Lancaster University in the 1960s.

Roger called in to see us last week and chatted with our student ambassadors about their experiences of studying at Lancaster, and about life after university.

And, staying on the subject of records, we are hosting a special event next week which focuses on the floods that hit Lancaster at the end of 2015.

Callum Berridge, a former theatre studies and English student, will be hosting the event next Tuesday, April 19, at which anyone is invited and share their experiences of Storm Desmond. Callum wants to hear experiences both good and bad.

He said: “It brought my friends and me so much closer while it was going on, it gave us the opportunity to spend time together in a way we wouldn’t have if the power cuts and bad weather hadn’t happened.”

He will use all of the stories gathered and incorporate them into an “instant” performance piece which will be shown at 3pm, 5pm and 7pm on Thursday April 21. Everyone who shared their story will be invited to attend, but as with all Campus in the City events, the performances are free and open to everyone.

Tickets aren’t required, but seating will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

Other events include: experience the 3D walkthrough of the human body this Saturday, April 16, a look at the arts on Wednesday, April 20, and Oculus Rift Horror on Friday April 22 – for over 16s only.
