She swims, she cycles, she shoots, she fences, she runs long distances, and now she’s won a Sunshine award.
Multi-sports teenage prodigy Georgia Hannam is the winner of The Visitor’s first ever Sunshine Young Person award, sponsored by Ascentis.
The Heysham High School pupil was nominated due to her incredible achievements in sport at such a young age.
Georgia, 16, is the British Schools Biathlon Champion and tipped as a future Olympian. She competes and wins titles all over the country in multi-sports disciplines such as biathlon and triathalon, and her ambition is to compete for Team GB in Modern Pentathalon at the 2020 Olympic Games. Success comes due to hard work, as Georgia combines studying for her A-Levels with a rigorous seven-day, 23-hour training programme of swimming, shooting, fencing, cycling and running.
Georgia, who works as a lifeguard in her spare time and says she is inspired by Olympic triathaletes the Brownlee brothers, also recently picked up the Lancashire Sports Awards Young Achiever Award at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool.
