A CHARITY night held in memory of a beautiful young woman raised an amazing £4,000.

Friends and family of Hayley Marie McMinn, 19, from Middleton, who was killed in a car accident last year on July 24, held a special tribute night at Smokey O’Connor’s in a bid to raise funds for the neo natal unit at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Local girl group Dalton performed and there was music from DJ Rob of Mint Bar in Lancaster, where Hayley worked.

Jo & Cass, where Hayley also worked, ran a sponsored head shave and body wax on the night.

There was also a raffle and auction with prizes including signed football shirts by the Arsenal and Manchester City squads.

Hayley’s dad Joe said: “It was a very good night and we want to thank all the businesses and everyone who helped and donated raffle prizes.

“Up to 250 people attended and it was an emotional night, we had mixed feelings.”

Hayley’s mum and dad Alison and Joe, have set up a special charity, Hayley’s Hugs, to continue fundraising for equipment for the RLI neo natal unit and are hoping to raise £12,000 to buy and incubator for the unit in Hayley’s name. A bungee jump by two friends and a cross bay walk by Alison and Joe, have raised £3,000 for the RLI to date.
