Trust roadshow at town hall

Services from the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) will be showcased at a public event this month. Organised by the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, the free event will also feature hearing screening tests and a resuscitation (CPR) challenge. There will also be a demonstration of the Trust IT systems, stands and stalls as well as the opportunity to meet some of the people in charge of the RLI. The audiology stand will offer the opportunity for members of the public to have a free hearing screen by hearing professionals. It will also feature up to date information about the types of help available if someone suffers from hearing problems. The roadshow will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at Lancaster Town Hall between 10am and 2pm.

Food petition to end hunger

People are being urged to back a petition calling on the chancellor to set a budget aimed at ending hunger in the UK.

Cat Smith, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for the Lancaster and Fleetwood constituency for the 2015 General Election, has signed the petition by hunger campaigner and food blogger Jack Monroe.

And Ms Smith is calling on other residents to follow suit and join more than 27,000 people in the UK who have already put their name to the petition.

Her appeal follows the Trussell Trust’s recent move to set up a food collection point at Sainsbury’s in Lancaster. Sign her petition at
