Final health and safety checks will be carried out before a striking new playground on the prom opens to the public.
Lancaster City Council is awaiting an inspection from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents before opening its new children’s play area on Marine Road Central.
The new playground is covered in artificial grass and includes hard-wearing play equipment and a centrepiece climbing hill.
It replaces the car park next to the Clock Tower. A new car park has opened further west along the seafront, replacing another playground as part of the council’s ‘Connecting Eric’ scheme.
Work is also under way opposite the new play area to upgrade the surface of Euston Road precinct as part of the same scheme.
