Meet the new Lord Mayor of Bare and his most precious little flower of all – his granddaughter.
Derek Morgan from Robinsons florist on Princes Crescent celebrated becoming the mayor with six-week-old Holly May and his daughter, Holly’s mum Emma Lewis.
Derek was officially appointed Mayor of Bare in a ceremony at Saturday’s Barefest festival.
He gave an acceptance speech on the green on Princes Crescent just yards from his shop. Earlier, the mayor had paraded through the streets of Bare with outgoing mayor Susan Bray, town crier John Haydock, David Morris MP and representatives of local clubs and organisations. Mr Morgan then declared the Barefest open and there followed an afternoon of activities in and around Princes Crescent and Bare Lane including live music, stalls and kiddies’ rides.
