Deliveroo was founded in 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski and now works with over 16,000 restaurants, as well as over 20,000 delivery riders to provide take away food from restaurants that would not normally deliver.

The London based firm employs more than 800 people in offices around the globe, including Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Spain and the United Kingdom.

The company’s general manager Caroline Hazlehurst said: “We’ve seen a huge demand for Deliveroo in Lancaster and we’re excited to be launching next month; we’re feeling very positive about the creation of new jobs for local people.”

Deliveroo is appealing to riders, including bicycle, scooter or motorbike riders, who will deliver food from more than 15 restaurants across the city to the customers’ door within 30 minutes.

Caroline added: “The team is looking for people with passion, drive and great customer service, who are seeking the added benefit of flexible hours amongst other perks.”
