Emma, who lives in Arnside, recently started working within the wider South East Cumbria and Morecambe Bay Ranger Team but is focussing on key coastal sites at Heysham and Sandscale Haws.

Following her heart and love of the countryside, Emma graduated in 2011 with a degree in Wildlife Conservation and became part of the National Trust family when she started as a volunteer at National Trust’s Dunham Massey.

From here, Emma moved to Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland where she gained experience in surveying for wetland birds, seals and red squirrels.

Emma said: “I’m really looking forward to combining my skills in event planning, practical conservation and public liaison as the new coastal ranger.

“This coastline is so beautiful, unique and ever-changing- it’s such a pleasure to be here.”

A Big Beach Picnic at Heysham will be on July 4.
