Work will begin on September 5 and the owners hope to have the bar/bistro open by mid-October.

The hotel will still offer accommodation too.

The Crown is owned by the O’Hagan family who also own the Royal Bar and other premises on Morecambe seafront.

Kevin O’Hagan said: “We’re busy with the Royal and we want to give the people of Morecambe something different to add to the food and drink offer in the town.

“There are people coming for a night out in Morecambe from Lancaster now and there is definitely room for another establishment.

“There will be nothing like this in Morecambe or Lancaster. It’s going to be a bit quirky.”

The Crown is currently recruiting for staff.

The premises will be managed by Liam Broster, formerly of the Hest Bank Hotel.

The new Crown will offer steak nights, Sunday roast dinners, tapas and nibbles, wines and cocktails, and live music at weekends.

The premises was a pub before reopening as Pebbles restaurant in 2005, then reverted to a hotel in 2012.

The O’Hagans refurbished and reopened the nearby Royal in 2012 and it has since become one of Morecambe’s best and busiest bars.
