Neighbours shock over caravan park murder

Empty beer cans and recently extinguished barbecues act as a reminder that families have been trying to enjoy what is left of their holidays at Stud Farm Park.

The park accommodates holiday makers as well as residents – some of whom have lived at the site for 28 years.

The shock is still present for some neighbours who witnessed their holiday haven turn into a crime scene as police arrived on Friday at around 12.15am.

Damon Searson was stabbed in the chest in the early hours of Friday morning at Stud Farm Park, on Oxcliffe Road and died a short time later.

Terri Marie Palmer, 22 has been charged with the murder of Mr Searson.

For some the fatal stabbing brought back unwanted memories of a similar incident just two years before when Adam Stirrup died.

Maureen Heslop, who has owned a caravan at the site for the past four years, was out enjoying the day with her grandchildren and didn’t expect anything until she spotted crime scene vans the next morning.

Mrs Heslop said: “There’s been two murders in two years, thank god my grandkids had gone when the police turned up.

“Devastating, you just feel sorry these two young lives have gone, the poor lad is lying in a morgue.”

One gardener, who has worked at the park for 13 years, said: “It is a nice sunny day, everything is tickety boo and then this happens again and you think why?”

Sylvia Birch has lived at the site for 28 years and said: “I have always been happy here but I can’t get what has happened, it is so dreadful, such a tragedy.”

Management at Stud Farm Park declined to comment.
