Musicians band together for much-loved Morecambe man who has cancer

Singers and bands will pull together on a charity night for a popular Morecambe man who has terminal cancer.

Musicians will perform at Smokey O’Connors pub this Sunday (July 10) at a fundraiser for Steven Simpson, known to his friends as ‘Simmy’.

Steven, 54, has been told by doctors he has only months to live.

His friends are raising cash to pay for him to travel and achieve other dreams in the time he has left.

Simmy works at Smokeys and is also a regular DJ at the Morecambe Street pub.

Neil Gowland, who set up a JustGiving page to raise money for Simmy, said: “He is a fantastic guy with a heart of gold.

“Anyone who ever met this man will know what an absolute diamond he is.”

Simmy will also host the event alongside Mike Jackson and DJ Lyndon.

The line-up of bands on Sunday is:

Ember Red - 5pm

Fuse - 5.40pm

Trilogy - 6.20pm

Desiree - 7pm

Stuart Michaels - 7.35pm

2 Stroke Diesel - 8.10pm

Reggie Mental Band - 9pm

24/7 - 10pm

Hullabaloo - 11pm

Mark Yates - Midnight and then disco until close
