The Station Promenade Wacky Warehouse at Station Buildings is allowing free entry for one day only after conducting research which found close to one in five parents said their child preferred watching television or using an iPad to playing and having adventures.

Nearly a quarter of parents (24 per cent) said their children preferred playing with computer games to playing creatively as a family.

Karen Gibney, general manager at the Station Promenade, said: “We know that playtime is an important part of a child’s development, helping to build their social, cognitive, physical and emotional skills.

“This is why we’re offering a free day of play here at the Station Promenade. We want to help children get creative and energetic by sliding, running, climbing and jumping to their heart’s content – and all for free!”

Those looking to claim entry to the National Play Date simply need to visit their nearest Wacky on Monday 25 July. Get there early, it’s first come first served.

Terms and conditions apply, see www.wackywarehouse.co.uk/freeplayday for more details.
