Undoubtedly helped by the weather, landlords in Morecambe recorded bumper takings from the festival over the weekend, which featured live music at over 30 venues.

Spokesman for Morecambe Music Festival, Greg Lambert said: “It was two days of live music right across Morecambe. The promenade was packed with people from lunchtime until late , then till late on Sunday. It seemed to go well. It is the kind of thing that boosts the local economy. I spoke to quite a few landlords who said they had more people through the door and spending money.

“I spoke to some people from Middlesbrough who had googled ‘things to do in Morecambe’ and spent the whole weekend here and loved it!

“The weather really helped as well, there were acts outside The Midland, The Royal, and The Palatine and there were lots and lots of people enjoying music outside.

“The Gathered Voices Choir performing outside the clock tower were unbelievable, like the event. Pubs in Bare did really well, especially on Saturday. People were stopping us in the street and saying how much they have loved it.This year’s festival was twice as big and twice as good as last year’s and we took it to the next level. Next year the festival will be over three days.

“I’d like to thank everybody who helped organise the event, the committee,. landlords, landladies, the technical guys, the acts and the sp0nsors, and all the people who came to support us. “
