The MP for Morecambe has hailed Britain’s most famous astronaut as a “national hero” after meeting him at an air show.
David Morris welcomed Major Tim Peake back to earth at the Farnborough Air Show in Hampshire in his capacity as chairman of the Parliamentary Space Committee.
Major Peake returned earlier this month after a six month mission at the International Space Station. This was his first public appearance since returning.
“Tim was mobbed by young people and it was fantastic to see so many children inspired by Tim’s mission and so enthusiastic to learn more about space.” said Mr Morris.
The MP was also at a special reception at Number 10 Downing Street this week where the new Prime Minister Theresa May formally welcomed Tim back to the UK and thank him for all of his educational work.
