‘The Morecambe Missile’ delighted museum bosses when he made a surprise visit to check out six of his own motorcycles.

Multi-time TT Champion John McGuinness popped into the Lakeland Motor Museum to view his own personal collection of superbikes on loan at the attraction.

John, the second most successful TT rider of all time, currently loans six motorcycles with Isle of Man history to the Motor Museum near Newby Bridge in Cumbria.

They form part of a special exhibition about the island’s famous annual motorbike road races. John’s most recent addition was his 2014 TT Zero winning Shinden San/Team Mugen electric bike earlier this year. During his visit, McGuinness also browsed more than 80 other motorcycles in the museum’s wider collection, including rare Vincent motorbikes from the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
