Morecambe manager's disappointment at forward's injury

Morecambe boss Derek Adams has praised Jordan Slew’s contribution after injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

The forward suffered a fractured fibula in training earlier this month, an injury which requires an operation and an absence of 10-12 weeks.

The 28-year-old, who joined the club in January last year, has divided opinion in that time.

Critics point to a lack of goals with only one in 36 games for the Shrimps, while supporters highlight his work ethic – most notably his starring role in their win against Crawley Town earlier this month.

“Jordan plays a big part in our team whether he starts or comes off the bench,” Adams said.

“His forward running and his tracking back allows the other players to get the benefits of that work.

“We will miss him. You need those players who can do the work which allows others to go and express themselves.
