Morecambe FC’s award-winning pies, made by head chef Graham Aimson and his team, have earned plaudits for many years from football fans and food critics alike.

Last year Graham’s chicken, ham and leek pie was rated as the Best Chicken Pie and Best Football Pie by pie-lover Martin Tarbuck who reviewed 400 pies for his book Life of Pies.

Earlier in 2015, the team won two categories at the 2015 British Pie Awards, the fourth occasion the club won the Football Pie category and the second time for the Dessert Pie. They also won Supreme Pie in 2011 and 2014.

The eighth annual British Pie Awards took place in Melton Mowbray on March 11 and this year 816 pies were entered from 132 professional bakers and butchers. Judges included TV chef Andy Bates, food critic Charles Campion and chef Rachel Green.
