Morecambe FC boss Jim Bentley helps ill fan at gala dinner
Club director Rod Taylor said the man was at Saturday evening’s event at the Globe Arena with his wife when he fell ill.
He said: “Jim insisted on accompanying him and his wife in the ambulance to the RLI.

Hide Ad“Jim remained at the hospital with them until after 4am and the gentleman was discharged a little later.
“I feel it important that the fans are aware of his actions.”
Jim said he had been chatting to the man when the incident happened.
“It was at the end of the night, he came over to say goodbye and as we were chatting he collapsed,” he said.

Hide Ad“I got hold of him and sat him down and put my arm around him and then he just passed out.
“We called for an ambulance and a couple of people who were medically trained helped out, they took him outside where he came around and was sick.
“He was communicating with us when the ambulance arrived.”
Jim said he went along to the RLI to support the man and his wife.
“He had some tests and I stayed there with him until about 4am. He saw the doctor and left at about 5am.

Hide Ad“I have spoken to him since and thankfully he seems to be OK.”
Jim added: “Everyone at Morecambe FC wishes him well. I just did what I could, I just wanted to give him some support.”
Fans were quick to praise Jim’s actions on the Shrimps Voices online forum.
