A globetrotting DJ is on a mission to bring dance music to Africa and Asia.
Lee Watson from Morecambe has just returned from playing one of the top nightclubs in Kenya and will soon tour the Far East including a performance at a beach party in Thailand – one of the biggest in the world.
Lee and his friend Scott Ashworth are known as the duo Fully Charged and are in high demand in the world of electronic dance music (EDM).
Their first visit to Kenya and saw them play the Florida nightclub in Nairobi and appear in The Standard, one of the country’s largest newspapers.
“Progressive house music isn’t particularly big out there but they are catching up and they absolutely love it,” said Lee.
“The people were amazing. They couldn’t do enough for you.”
Fully Charged’s Asian tour later this month will take in Vietnam, Taiwan and a headline slot at the Halfmoon Festival beach party in Koh Phangan, Thailand.
“I seriously can’t wait to play this stage,” said Lee.
“I know a lot of people who go there from Morecambe regularly.”
Lee, a former sales rep at The Visitor, gained fame after appearing on ITV reality show Club Reps.
He then carved out a career as a dance party MC before forming Fully Charged while DJing at the Syndicate nightclub in Blackpool.
